Film-making process

Close your eyes and fall into an intimate dream of landscape and connectedness. An ancestral Rarámuri poem enlightens your journey, as you discover a way of life for healing Mother Earth and yourself. What will you do when you wake?

GAWI is a VR film co-created with the Rarámuri culture.

This project emerged from my Atlantic Fellowship for Social and Economic Equity. As part of my research-practice I developed an ethical checklist for immersive storytelling. Today GAWI is a multidisciplinary creative collective driven by shared-values of justice, empathy and creativity.

Since it's launching GAWI has been included in social and climate justice forums in 7 countries, including COP16 for Biodiversity (Colombia). Up until today it is used as an advocacy tool for the Raramuri people to defend their ancestral territory.
